How to Get My Teenager to Listen - Phone at the dinner table

connecting with your teenager Jul 14, 2022

Today I am going to challenge you to adopt a new perspective when your teenager refuses to listen to your request to put their phone down during dinner.

See their resistance as a symptom of another issue. This is a sign that they need to reconnect.

Two ways to build connection:

  •  Be intentional about engaging with them via their particular love language
  •  Invite them to co-create a plan for the use of their phone that works for both of you.

Keep in mind that your teenager will not always be able to put into words what they are going through. Experience has taught me that any unwanted or bad behavior is a call for love. A call to reconnect.

A change in perspective … changes everything.
